Our Story
GbarG Ranch is a family-run Northern California goat grazing and vegetation management business based in Kelseyville, California. Founded in the 1980s as a small family pear farm rooted in the heart of Lake County, our ranch has been passed down through generations and built on hard work, tradition, and a deep connection to the land.
Over the years, we’ve watched our community — along with neighboring counties such as Sonoma, Napa, and Mendocino — endure the devastation of wildfires. Seeing family, friends, and local landscapes repeatedly affected inspired us to expand our legacy into professional grazing services.
Our goat grazing program grew naturally from our farming roots, with one goal in mind: to give back. By reducing brush and supporting fire prevention efforts, we’re proud to help protect the land we’ve called home for more than a century.

Mobile Herd Management
At GbarG Ranch, efficiency is built into every part of our operation. Our fully mobile herd of over 100 head continues to grow each season, allowing us to arrive ready to work with professional fencing, water systems, and handling equipment that streamline setup and minimize downtime.
Our Spanish goats and sheep naturally target dense brush, ladder fuels, invasive species, and hard-to-reach terrain — often finishing projects faster than mechanical methods, without the need for fuel, heavy machinery, or chemicals.
Because our approach is low-impact and self-sustaining, clients receive fast, reliable vegetation management that reduces labor, improves land health, and delivers long-lasting results on properties of any size.
Effectiveness
Proven Results
Goat grazing is one of the most environmentally effective land-management strategies available today, and at GbarG Ranch we tailor our services to meet the needs of each property. Our herd delivers consistent results across vineyards, ranches, steep hillsides, public lands, and sensitive ecosystems. With a balanced herd of approximately 75% Spanish goats and 25% sheep, we are able to target a wide range of vegetation for more complete control.
Unlike mowing and spraying, which only treat vegetation at the surface, targeted grazing reduces regrowth at the source. Our livestock consume invasive plants, seed heads, and woody brush, helping lower the weed seed bank over time.
While working, our animals naturally improve the land by fertilizing the soil, increasing organic matter, and supporting healthier grass growth. Grazing also reaches areas machinery cannot, requires no chemicals, and produces no emissions. The result is cleaner, safer, and more sustainable land management that continues to improve property conditions season after season.
